Based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, NTCPWC focuses on applied research, education, and technology transfer to address industry challenges while promoting advancements in maritime technology.Role DescriptionThis is a full-time, on-site senior-level role for a System & Network Administrator based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The candidate will be responsible for managing, securing, and optimizing enterprise IT infrastructure, Linux-based server environments, and network architecture. The role requires strong hands-on expertise in Linux administration, server management, network engineering, virtualization, cybersecurity, infrastructure automation, and performance monitoring. The candidate will independently manage infrastructure operations, troubleshoot complex system and network issues, implement security controls, and ensure high availability, reliability, and scalability of IT services.Position: Senior System & Network AdministratorEngagement Type: Full-time
Location: ChennaiKey ResponsibilitiesLead administration and maintenance of Linux-based server environments (Ubuntu, RHEL, Debian, or equivalent).Manage enterprise server infrastructure, virtualization, storage systems, and critical network services.Design, configure, and maintain LAN/WAN, VLANs, routing, switching, firewalls, and VPN infrastructure.Administer DNS, DHCP, LDAP, Active Directory, SSH, NFS, and other infrastructure services.Implement server hardening, network security, access controls, vulnerability remediation, and patch management.Deploy and manage virtualization platforms such as VMware, KVM, Proxmox, or Hyper-V.Implement infrastructure monitoring, logging, performance optimization, and capacity management.Develop automation scripts using Bash, Python, or Ansible for infrastructure management.Manage backup strategies, disaster recovery, system restoration, and business continuity procedures.Perform advanced diagnostics, packet analysis, and root-cause analysis of complex infrastructure issues.Manage infrastructure upgrades, server deployments, network expansion, and technology integrations.Establish IT infrastructure standards, configuration baselines, security policies, and technical documentation.Oversee IT asset lifecycle, software licensing, vendor coordination, and infrastructure maintenance.Provide technical leadership and guidance for IT support and infrastructure operations.Qualifications & SkillsBE / B.Tech / M.Sc. / MCA in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline (Mandatory).5–8 years of relevant experience in Linux administration, network engineering, server infrastructure, or IT operations.Advanced hands-on expertise in Linux server administration, shell scripting, system services, and performance tuning.Strong knowledge of enterprise networking, TCP/IP, subnetting, VLANs, routing, switching, DNS, DHCP, and firewalls.Proven experience managing enterprise servers, virtualization platforms, and storage infrastructure.Proficiency in network security, Linux hardening, access management, and cybersecurity practices.Experience with infrastructure monitoring tools such as Zabbix, Nagios, Prometheus, or Grafana.Knowledge of automation and configuration management tools such as Ansible, Python, and Bash.Experience in backup management, disaster recovery, high availability, and infrastructure troubleshooting.Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure, and containerization is an added advantage.Certifications such as RHCE, RHCSA, CCNP, CCNA, LPIC, or equivalent are preferred.Strong leadership, analytical, problem-solving, and technical documentation skills.Ability to independently manage critical IT infrastructure and coordinate with multidisciplinary technical teams.How to ApplyInterested candidates may submit their resume and relevant documents for consideration via mail: hr@ntcpwc.iitm.ac.in
