Design Engineer- Electrical Switchgear

Job Description – Design Engineer (LV Switchgear / Electrical Panels)⚠️ Important – Please Read Before ApplyingThis position is strictly for candidates with a minimum of 3 years of hands-on LV Switchgear / Electrical Panel Design experience in a switchgear manufacturing or panel-building company. Candidates who do not meet this requirement, or who have already applied for this position previously, are requested NOT to apply. Applications that do not meet the above criteria will not be considered.Review project SLDs, specifications, tender documents, BOQs, technical requirements and applicable standards to understand project scope and design requirements.Prepare technical compliance statements and deviation schedules against project specifications and consultant requirements.Develop detailed electrical and mechanical design drawings including General Arrangement (GA), Single Line Diagrams (SLD), schematic/control diagrams, wiring diagrams, termination drawings and BOMs.Perform busbar sizing, short-circuit calculations, temperature-rise/heat dissipation calculations, cable sizing and other relevant electrical design calculations.Select appropriate switchgear, protection devices, control components, metering devices, busbar systems and accessories based on project requirements.Ensure designs comply with applicable IEC standards, manufacturer guidelines, authority requirements and local UAE regulations.Prepare and submit technical submittals, datasheets, product catalogues, calculations and drawings for consultant/client approval.Coordinate with consultants, clients and project teams to clarify technical requirements, resolve design comments and obtain drawing/material approvals.Review consultant/client comments and incorporate approved revisions into drawings and technical documents.Conduct site visits and site surveys when required to verify actual site conditions, dimensions, cable entry requirements, installation constraints and equipment interfaces.Coordinate with the procurement team for correct product selection, technical specifications, approved makes and availability of materials.Prepare and release approved BOMs, material requisitions and production drawings for procurement and manufacturing.Review incoming materials with the stores and QC teams to ensure materials conform to approved specifications and drawings.Provide technical support to the production/assembly team during panel manufacturing, wiring, busbar fabrication and installation.Coordinate with QC for inspection, testing and troubleshooting of completed panels.Prepare and review FAT procedures, inspection checklists and test reports, and coordinate with clients/consultants during Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT).Provide technical support to site teams during installation, commissioning, troubleshooting and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).Identify and resolve design, manufacturing and site-related technical issues in coordination with relevant departments.Coordinate with project, procurement, production, QC and site teams to ensure projects are completed within the required technical, quality and delivery requirements.Prepare and maintain O&M manuals, as-built drawings, test reports, datasheets, certificates and project closeout documentation.Prepare operation and maintenance training materials and provide technical training to the client's O&M/maintenance team when required.Maintain proper design records, revision history, approved drawings, calculations, technical submittals and project documentation.Support the engineering team in standardizing designs, improving panel designs and developing reusable design templates and libraries.Stay updated with IEC standards, new technologies, switchgear products and manufacturer recommendations relevant to LV electrical systems.Provide technical assistance during tendering and estimation activities, including reviewing specifications, preparing preliminary designs, BOMs and technical clarifications when required.Ensure all engineering deliverables are completed accurately and submitted within project deadlines and company quality standards.SkillsIn-depth knowledge in LV system design, product selection and IEC standards.Proficient in MS Office, AutoCAD, E plan, ERP systems & communication protocols.Strong interpersonal communication skills for collaborating with consultants & clients.Attention to detail, ability to solve problems, technical and analytical skills.CompetencyDegree in Electrical Engineering with 3 years / Diploma with 3-5 years Experience.
