Finance & Operations Manager | Second Finance Hire at a Profitable, High-Growth Analytics Scale-UpHarmonic are delighted to be supporting a founder-led, highly cash-generative tech business in the search for a Finance & Operations Manager.Operating within a specialist, data-led niche, the business has built a market-leading proprietary platform and a highly technical, engineering-led team. With c.30 employees and plans to grow towards 50 by the end of the year, they have recently appointed their first Director of Finance & Operations and are now building out the function to support the next phase of growth.The ClientA profitable, privately owned technology business working in the sports and data space, built by a small, highly technical team. The business is self-funded and growing quickly, with headcount set to more than double this year, and finance and operations is now being built out to support that growth. The culture is relaxed and trusting: people are given ownership and left to manage their own schedules.The RoleThis is a hands-on Finance & Operations Manager role, owning the core back-office function day to day with external bookkeepers and accountants for support. It covers month-end, reconciliations, reporting, year-end, VAT, accounts payable and payroll, plus the operations side, including onboarding, benefits and insurance.Why This RoleReport directly to an experienced Director of Finance & Operations who is invested in your development and will give you real exposure to how the whole function runsClear progression as the business scales, with scope to grow into FP&A and business partneringFreedom to modernise how things are done, starting with choosing and rolling out a new expense management systemBroader experience across finance and operations, building a more commercial profileWhat You Will OwnMonth end with the external bookkeepers and accountants, balance sheet reconciliations and financial reportingIntercompany accounting, including reconciliations and recharges across the groupYear end, VAT returns and tax efficiencies, working with external accountants and advisorsAccounts payable end to end, monthly payroll and statutory submissions such as P11DsFinance systems and controls, starting with selecting and rolling out a new expense management systemAutomated workflows and people operations, including onboarding, benefits and insurance renewalsWhat We Are Looking ForPart-qualified or fully qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMAIndustry experience in a startup or scale-up, ideally in a small, hands-on finance teamComfortable owning projects end to endReal examples of using technology or AI to improve a processOperations experience alongside finance, and familiarity with Xero, Slack or Zapier, a plusThe PackageSalary: £60,000 - £70,000 plus generous bonus.
