Founding Engineering Lead
RAXE AI · Dubai, United Arab Emirates
Tailor my CV for this job — freeFounding Engineering Lead - RAXE AIDubai, UAE | Early expressions of interestHiring will depend on funding; there is no confirmed start date. This is an expression of interest for intended paid, full-time employment.RAXE builds self-hosted security and runtime evidence for AI agents. As agents access files, call tools and act with delegated credentials, organisations need to understand what happened and whether those actions stayed within their intended authority. We’re registered and based in DIFC AI Campus, Dubai.HOW WE WORKWe are building a small team that uses AI agents across everyday work. You own the outcome: frame the problem, give agents bounded tasks, verify their output against evidence and know when to involve a person. We value judgement, clear communication and reusable workflows. More agent activity is not evidence of better results.THE ROLEYou would work directly with the founder to turn customer needs and technical research into a reliable product. You would write code, make architectural decisions and own delivery as the engineering team grows.WHAT YOU WOULD OWN
- Backend services, APIs and integration architecture.
- Reliable SDK and sensor integrations with agent workflows.
- Deployment packaging, CI/CD, testing and production troubleshooting.
- Performance, maintainability and security of the systems we ship.
- Engineering workflows that use AI agents effectively, with clear verification.
- Technical assessment and mentoring of future engineering hires.WHAT WOULD MAKE YOU A STRONG MATCH
- You have taken backend or systems software into production and supported it afterwards.
- You can work confidently with Python, APIs, Linux and containers.
- You can explain architectural trade-offs and prioritise under uncertainty.
- You use AI coding tools and can demonstrate how you check their output.
- You communicate clearly and take responsibility for outcomes.Security, observability, distributed systems or developer-tool experience would be useful. You don’t need experience in every area.LEADING AN AI-ASSISTED ENGINEERING WORKFLOWOur intended model is a hands-on engineering lead coordinating parallel agent workstreams, potentially around 12 coding, review and triage agents. Concurrency should grow only when integration and review remain reliable; agent count is not a performance target. You would own:
- Clear task briefs, acceptance criteria and dependency tracking before agents start.
- Isolated worktrees and appropriate credential, filesystem and publishing permissions; worktrees alone are not a security boundary.
- Separate build and review responsibilities, bounded review rounds and explicit escalation when fixes do not converge.
- Tests tied to the exact commit and intended scope; missing coverage, skipped checks or empty inputs must not be reported as proof of success.
- Integration testing of the combined change, release decisions and rollback readiness.
- A concise status view, decision log and durable handover so the founder can resolve material questions without reading every agent transcript.
- Tracking useful delivery, escaped defects, review effort and actual cost rather than generated code or agent activity alone. You remain able to inspect the code, debug directly and challenge agent conclusions. You do not need to have managed exactly 12 agents; demonstrate sound engineering judgement and how you would scale the workflow safely.EARLY SUCCESSShip a customer-relevant improvement, make deployment repeatable and reduce the founder’s involvement in routine engineering delivery. You would be joining at an early stage: hands-on implementation and shaping how we work would both be central to the role.ABOUT THE FOUNDERMukund Hirani spent 17+ years in cybersecurity across UK Government, Mandiant and CrowdStrike, and was technical co-founder of an AI company that he subsequently exited.INTERESTED?Share your profile and a short example of a system you helped build, what you personally owned and how you verified that it worked.Different professional backgrounds and routes into engineering are welcome. Please don’t share confidential employer or customer material.Funding, compensation and the working arrangement will be discussed transparently before any formal recruitment process. No confirmed start date, salary range, equity or visa/relocation arrangements are being offered at this stage.
