IT Operations and Application Support Trainee

We are hiring!We are looking for a motivated and detail‑oriented IT Operations and Application Support Trainee to join our Technology & Operations team. This role is aimed at a junior professional at the beginning of their career who is interested in learning how banking applications and production systems are operated, supported, and maintained in a regulated financial environment.The trainee will support day‑to‑day IT operations and application support activities, working under the guidance of senior team members to ensure system availability, incident resolution, and operational stability. This position offers hands‑on exposure to core banking systems, payment platforms, production support processes, and IT operations, supported by structured on‑the‑job training.Main ResponsibilitiesProvide operational and application support for banking systems and production environments, following defined procedures and escalation paths.Assist in the monitoring of applications, services, and batch processes, identifying and reporting incidents or abnormal behavior.Support incident, problem, and service request management, including ticket registration, follow‑up, and documentation using IT service management tools.Perform basic troubleshooting and log analysis to help identify application or system issues.Assist with production maintenance activities, including service checks, job monitoring, and operational validations.Contribute to the creation and maintenance of technical and operational documentation, such as procedures, inventories, and system records.Support change and release activities, including pre‑ and post‑implementation checks under supervision.Assist in operational compliance tasks, such as evidence collection and basic controls related to security, audits, and regulatory requirements.Collaborate with IT, Operations, Payments, and external service providers to support issue resolution.Participate in initiatives related to process improvement, automation, and operational efficiency.Support other IT operations and application support activities, as required.Academic BackgroundDegree (or final‑year student) in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.Strong interest in IT operations, application support, and production environments.Willingness to develop a career in technology within the banking or financial services sector.Relevant Technical Skills (Trainee Level)Basic understanding of enterprise operating systems, particularly Windows‑based server environments.Introductory exposure to enterprise platforms and job/process monitoring, including batch or scheduled processing concepts.Awareness of application servers and middleware, especially Java‑based application environments (e.g., Tomcat, JBoss, WildFly, or similar).Introductory knowledge of scripting or automation tools, such as: PowerShell, batch scripting, or shell scripting. Basic Python or similar languages for log processing or data handling.Basic ability to analyze system and application logs to identify errors or operational issues.Understanding of troubleshooting concepts in production environments.Soft Skills & Personal AttributesHigh attention to detail and a structured, methodical approach to work.Sense of responsibility when supporting production and operational systems.Ability to follow procedures and work with documentation.Strong willingness to learn and develop technical and operational skills.Good communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team.Comfortable working in English (written and spoken).Nice to Have / Preferred QualificationsPayment flows such as SEPA, instant payments, and interbank transfers. Transaction statuses, exceptions, and reconciliation concepts.Message‑based integrations and structured data formats (e.g., ISO‑based messaging), at a conceptual level. (ex. pacs.008 (instruction), pacs.002 (status), camt.029)Awareness of the importance of security, compliance, and regulatory requirements (DORA) in banking IT operations.Awareness of banking systems and payment platforms such as Core Banking Systems, Applohub, SIFOX (Finantech), etc.
