We are seeking a Regional Geophysicist to undertake integrated seismic interpretation across frontier and mature basins using Kingdom Suite. The role requires strong geological reasoning, regional data integration skills, and the ability to deliver technically defensible interpretations with clearly documented uncertainties. This position is for a project based at the client’s premises in Islamabad, Pakistan, working within a multidisciplinary D&M team of local and expatriate professionals in close collaboration with client representatives. Key ResponsibilitiesInterpret 2D and 3D seismic data, including manual and auto-tracked horizon picking, fault interpretation, and structural and stratigraphic mapping.Develop regional interpretations across thrust and fold belts, inversion structures, extensional systems, and strike-slip settings.Interpret seismic stratigraphy, including sequence boundaries, seismic terminations, and facies.Establish and assess well-to-seismic ties using wavelet extraction, synthetic seismograms, and check-shot/VSP calibration, with attention to tie quality, polarity, and phase.Build velocity models and convert time interpretations to depth, clearly communicating uncertainty in depth maps.Identify and assess seismic data-quality issues, including multiples, migration artefacts, statics, polarity and phase problems, and acquisition footprint.Produce time and depth structure maps, isochrons, and isopachs using consistent gridding parameters and geologically coherent fault polygons and horizon–fault relationships.Integrate multiple seismic surveys and vintages, addressing mis-ties, datum differences, amplitude balancing, polarity, phase, and navigation consistency.Integrate seismic interpretations with gravity, magnetic, well, and geological data.Apply basic seismic attributes and understand the limitations of AVO analysis and inversion.Prepare clear maps, sections, play fairways, and reports consistent with Play-Based Exploration (PBE) frameworks.Document interpretation decisions, assumptions, uncertainties, and workflows to ensure reproducibility and effective technical handover.Minimum Technical RequirementsSeismic Interpretation and Regional IntegrationPractical proficiency in 2D and 3D fault and horizon interpretation, including manual picking and auto-tracking.Understanding of structural styles and seismic stratigraphic principles.Competence in well-to-seismic calibration, wavelet assessment, and synthetic seismogram generation.Understanding of time–depth relationships and interval, average, and RMS velocities.Experience building velocity models and evaluating depth-conversion uncertainty.Ability to recognize seismic acquisition and processing artefacts and assess their impact on interpretation.Experience integrating regional datasets across multiple surveys and vintages.Working knowledge of amplitude attributes, coherence, curvature, and spectral decomposition, with awareness of AVO and inversion limitations.Kingdom Suite ProficiencyProject and database setup, including coordinate systems, datums, SEG-Y loading, well and log loading, and import QC.Horizon and fault interpretation in 2D and 3D, including loop-tie checks, mis-tie correction, and fault-surface and polygon management.Effective use of base-map, section, and 3D visualization tools.Log editing, calibration, synthetic generation, and wavelet management, subject to the available licensed modules.Contouring, gridding algorithm selection, parameter control, grid arithmetic, and map QC.Velocity-grid construction and depth conversion of horizons and faults within the platform.Export of horizons, faults, and grids in standard formats for modelling, GIS, and reporting.Efficient management of large regional 2D datasets, including legacy scanned or reprocessed seismic lines.Normalization of multivintage datasets, including mis-ties, amplitude balancing, polarity, and navigation.Basin-Specific ExperienceFrontier BasinsInterpretation of sparse 2D grids with wide line spacing and limited or no well control.Use of analogues and regional geology to constrain interpretations.Assessment of interpretational uncertainty through alternative geological scenarios.Fault-seal, trap-integrity, and structural-validation checks, including balanced sections or restoration where relevant.Lead and prospect identification using structural and stratigraphic risking inputs, including closure, spill, and volumes.Mature BasinsReconciliation of multiple 3D surveys and vintages, including integration of reprocessed data and reinterpretation of legacy datasets.Use of dense well control for log-based calibration of velocities and horizons.Fine-scale structural and stratigraphic mapping to support infill opportunities, bypassed pay assessment, and compartmentalization analysis.Preparation of seismic-to-simulation handovers, including fault models.Collaboration and DeliveryApply geological reasoning so that every interpretation and map is defensible, with errors and uncertainties explicitly stated.Communicate technical findings clearly to non-geophysicists.Work collaboratively with geologists, geochemists, reservoir engineers, and other members of the multidisciplinary team.Maintain organized projects and complete documentation to support reproducibility and seamless handover.Be available to work on-site at the client’s premises in Islamabad alongside local and expatriate professionals.
