Senior Accountant

A growing financial services organization is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join its accounting and finance team. This position will play an important role in the monthly close, general ledger accounting, financial reporting, reconciliations, and analysis. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in GAAP accounting and experience working within financial services or a similarly complex environment.ResponsibilitiesPerform key components of the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processPrepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjusting entriesPrepare balance sheet and general ledger account reconciliationsMaintain and analyze general ledger accountsPrepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedulesPerform variance and trend analysis and investigate unusual activityAssist with management and financial reportingEnsure accounting activities are completed accurately and in accordance with GAAPSupport internal and external audit requestsMaintain appropriate documentation and internal controlsAssist with budgeting and forecasting as neededResearch and resolve accounting discrepanciesPartner with other departments to ensure accurate financial informationIdentify opportunities to improve accounting processes and efficienciesAssist with special projects and ad hoc financial analysisQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field4–7+ years of progressive accounting experienceFinancial services, banking, investment management, insurance, fintech, or related industry experience preferredStrong general ledger and month-end close experienceStrong journal entry and account reconciliation experienceSolid understanding of U.S. GAAPFinancial statement preparation and analysis experienceStrong Microsoft Excel skillsExperience with a major ERP/accounting system such as Oracle, SAP, NetSuite, Workday, or similarCompensation$95,000–$115,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
