Senior Finance Officer - Accounting (BGC, Taguig City)

About the roleJ&T Express is seeking an experienced Senior Finance Officer - Accounting to join our finance team at our headquarters in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City, Metro Manila. This is a full-time position that plays a critical role in maintaining the financial integrity and compliance of our organization. As Senior Finance Officer, you will oversee accounting operations, manage financial reporting, and ensure adherence to accounting standards and regulatory requirements. This role is instrumental in supporting the company's financial planning, decision-making processes and strategic objectives.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Take ownership of key general ledger and sub-ledger reconciliations – including balance sheet accounts, intercompany transactions, and control accounts – ensuring discrepancies are identified, investigated, and resolved promptlyPrepare analytical reviews and reports explaining significant variances and financial performance for management review.Own the end-to-end fixed asset accounting cycle: recognition, capitalization, depreciation, revaluation, impairment, disposals, and transfers in strict compliance with PFRS/PAS and company policies.Maintain accurate and up-to-date fixed asset register; perform periodic physical verification and reconcile register balances to general ledger.Review capital expenditure requests and ensure proper classification between capitalizable costs and expenses; prepare necessary journal entries.Act as a key contributor to month-end and year-end closing processes: prepare recurring and non-recurring journal entries, submit schedules within deadlines, and ensure all accounts are complete, accurate, and presented in accordance with applicable accounting standards.Assist in the preparation of financial statements and disclosures; support external auditors during statutory and year-end audits.Develop and improve documentation, checklists, and processes to strengthen closing efficiency, internal control, and financial reporting reliability.PROFESSIONAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:Working knowledge of Philippine Financial Reporting Standards (PFRS / PAS) and relevant tax and regulatory requirementsStrong proficiency in MS Excel – advanced functions, pivot tables, financial modeling, and data analysisFamiliarity with common ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks, Xero, or equivalent); ability to learn new systems quickly.Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and consistency in handling large volumes of financial data.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills — able to identify issues, propose solutions, and explain financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders.Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet strict deadlines, and work under pressure during closing periods.High integrity, confidentiality, and commitment to ethical financial practices.Good interpersonal and communication skills; able to collaborate cross-functionally and provide guidance to junior team members as needed.EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND AND WORK EXPERIENCES:Graduate of Bachelor of Science in AccountancyIf CPA (highly desirable) – with at least 2 years or more experience in accounting (advantage if comes from the Big 4 public firm)If not CPA – with at least 4 years or more experience in accountingExperience in fixed asset accounting is optional but highly desirableExposure to month-end and year-end closing procedures, general ledger reconciliations, and financial reportingExperience preparing or analyzing P&L statements and performing variance analysisFamiliarity with Philippine tax compliance and statutory reporting is a plus.WORKING CONDITIONS:Location: On-site – BGC, Taguig Metro ManilaStandard Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:30 PMOccasional extended hours (paid overtime/holiday) may be necessary to meet reporting deadlines, such as month-end and year-end closingProfessional, collaborative office environment with exposure to cross-functional teams and senior management
