Structural Engineer – Building Survey & Structural Assessment

Location: Dubai, UAEEmployment Type: Full-Time, PermanentExperience Required: Minimum 5 yearsValid UAE driving licence is mandatoryAbout the OpportunityWe are recruiting on behalf of our client, an established engineering consultancy in Dubai, seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to join their team.This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer with strong experience in existing-building structural inspections, condition assessments, and structural investigations.The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing existing structures, identifying potential structural concerns, evaluating proposed modifications, and providing practical engineering recommendations.Unlike traditional structural design positions, this role focuses heavily on site investigations, building surveys, and assessing existing structures, particularly where as-built drawings and structural documentation are limited or unavailable.Key ResponsibilitiesConduct detailed structural inspections and condition assessments of existing buildings.Survey structural elements, including walls, ceilings, slabs, beams, columns, and other building components.Investigate existing structural conditions where as-built drawings or technical documentation are incomplete or unavailable.Assess the feasibility of proposed structural modifications and refurbishment works.Identify structural concerns and recommend further investigations, testing, or engineering calculations where necessary.Prepare comprehensive technical reports, inspection findings, and engineering recommendations.Review structural drawings and coordinate with CAD, MEP, and other engineering disciplines.Liaise with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders regarding structural findings and proposed solutions.Attend regular site inspections, including occasional night shifts where required.Ensure all assessments and recommendations comply with relevant engineering standards and safety requirements.RequirementsBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline.Degree attestation, including UAE MOFA attestation, is mandatory.Minimum 5 years of relevant structural engineering experience.Proven hands-on experience in existing-building structural inspections, surveys, and condition assessments is essential.Experience working on projects where as-built drawings are limited, outdated, or unavailable.Previous experience with structural modifications, refurbishment, rehabilitation, or retrofitting projects is highly desirable.GCC experience in structural assessments and existing-building investigations is strongly preferred.Ability to identify structural concerns and determine when further investigation or calculations are required.Strong technical reporting, documentation, and communication skills.Good understanding of structural drawings and coordination with CAD and MEP teams.Valid UAE driving licence is mandatory.Must be eligible for employment and residence in the UAE under applicable immigration and MOHRE regulations.Willingness to undertake regular site visits and occasional night shifts.Candidates available to join immediately or on short notice will be preferred.What We're Looking ForWe are particularly interested in engineers who have practical experience assessing existing buildings rather than focusing exclusively on structural design for new construction.Candidates with experience in structural condition surveys, building refurbishment, structural rehabilitation, or investigating existing structures with limited documentation are strongly encouraged to apply.How to ApplyIf you meet the above requirements and have relevant experience in existing-building structural assessments, we would like to hear from you.Apply with your updated CV, highlighting your structural inspection, building survey, and assessment project experience.Only candidates who closely match the essential technical requirements will be shortlisted.
