Technical Design Manager, Utility Scale Energy Storage | Dubai | Hybrid | 💰 Competitive Tax-Free Salary + Bonus & BenefitsWe’re looking for a UAE-based Technical Design Manager to support our Grid and Project Development teams across a growing portfolio of utility scale energy storage and renewable projects in the Middle East. The region is delivering some of the largest solar and storage projects in the world, and as we expand into new markets across the GCC, you’ll play a direct role in that growth. You’ll join a highly capable Renewable Project Development team in a flexible, collaborative environment where everyone is aligned behind the company’s growth.Key ResponsibilitiesLead all aspects of power system network design, including grid connection applications and negotiations with utilities and transmission operators such as DEWA, EWEC and TRANSCO, and support technical and financial optimisation through to financial close and beyondLead engineering feasibility studies and drive value engineering to optimise design solutionsSupport the design of large scale energy storage plants, including equipment sizing and ratings, technical specifications and general design (SLDs, layouts, etc.)Review and, where appropriate, challenge EPC and BoP contractor design and engineering deliverablesCarry out power and electrical system studies, including performance assessments for design assurance and transient and dynamic stability studiesDevelop power system network design from 400kV down to LV to support engineering design and business decision makingEnsure designs meet local grid code and utility requirements across the UAE and wider GCCProvide technical and techno-economic analysis to support Business Development and Procurement teams on tendersSupport Project Delivery teams through basic and detailed design, construction and commissioningReview key engineering deliverables produced by third party consultants and contractorsOwn technical design standards and best practice, using tools such as BIM, 3D CAD and Digital TwinsWhat You’ll BringProven experience in electrical network design with a strong understanding of power system engineering; renewable system design experience is a strong advantageA solid grasp of power system and renewable connection design from 400kV down to site LV, including AIS and GIS substations, grid-forming inverters and control systemsUnderstanding of transmission and distribution networks, ideally with exposure to GCC utilities and grid codesKnowledge of design requirements for electrical equipment within energy storage and renewable installations, including equipment interference, blast and fire safety, thermal performance in high-ambient conditions, and access and egress for installation and O&MExperience with software such as DIgSILENT PowerFactory, BIM 360, Revit and AutoCAD 3DExperience in engineering, system planning or consultancy within the energy sector (B2B), ideally in energy storage or renewablesProject management experience, including budgeting and engineering capex management, is advantageousA genuine passion for clean energy and our social and environmental missionThe drive to thrive in a fast moving, high pressure and entrepreneurial environmentWhat We OfferHighly competitive tax-free base salaryTailored incentive package, including cash bonuses and additional benefits depending on levelA long-term opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals in a dynamic, friendly and people-focused environmentFlexible and hybrid workingA culture built on teamwork, independence, fairness and sustainability, with real support for self-development and growthInterested?Apply directly or send your CV to Jermaine at jermaine@owendaniels.co.uk for a confidential chat.#EnergyStorage #BESS #UtilityScale #Renewables #PowerSystems #GridConnections #ElectricalEngineering #UAEJobs #DubaiJobs #AbuDhabi #MiddleEastEnergy
