We're partnering with a global hedge fund seeking a Trading Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) / Production Support Engineer to support and improve its front-office equities trading platform.Working across Python scripting, Linux/Unix environments, production monitoring, incident management and trading application support, you'll ensure the reliability and performance of systems used by portfolio managers, traders and investment analysts to manage positions, monitor P&L, assess risk and execute investment strategies. This isn't a conventional support role where success is measured by how quickly you close tickets. The expectation is that you'll understand why systems fail, improve their reliability and automate away recurring problems. You'll operate at the intersection of software engineering, trading technology and investment operations, with direct exposure to the people whose investment decisions depend on the platforms you support. When something breaks at 7 am, the trading desk needs someone who understands both the technology and the commercial implications. But equally importantly, the firm wants someone who will make sure the same issue doesn't happen again. What you'll be doingSupport business-critical equities trading applications, investment platforms and front-office systems used by portfolio managers, traders and analysts.Manage production incidents, application troubleshooting and root-cause analysis across a demanding trading environment.Perform start-of-day and intraday health checks, monitor platform availability and investigate performance or data-related issues.Use Python, Bash or PowerShell to automate repetitive operational tasks, improve monitoring and reduce manual intervention.Work extensively with Linux/Unix systems, investigating application failures, processes, logs and connectivity issues.Support trading workflows involving order management, trade booking, positions, P&L, corporate actions and security reference data.Collaborate with software engineers on application deployments, testing, production releases and platform improvements.Translate front-office requirements into practical technical improvements.Help strengthen operational resilience, monitoring, alerting and incident response processes.Act as a trusted technical contact for investment professionals during time-sensitive production issues. What we're looking for3+ years' experience in Trading Technology, Production Support, Application Support, Site Reliability Engineering or a similar technical environment.Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix and practical scripting experience with Python, Bash or PowerShell. An understanding of financial markets, ideally equities trading, order management systems, portfolio management systems or investment workflows.Experience troubleshooting production applications and resolving complex technical incidents.Familiarity with monitoring, incident management, operational automation and application deployments. The ability to communicate confidently with traders, portfolio managers and software engineers.A genuine engineering mindset, with an interest in improving systems rather than simply maintaining them.A relevant degree in computer science, engineering or a related discipline. Why consider it?You'll join a sophisticated technology environment where the systems you support are directly connected to investment performance. The role offers a combination of front-office exposure, hands-on technical problem-solving, scripting, automation and production engineering. You'll work alongside experienced developers, gain a deeper understanding of how an investment platform operates and have meaningful input into how systems are improved. For an engineer who enjoys the immediacy of trading technology but wants more ownership, more automation and fewer repetitive support tasks, this offers an interesting progression.Apply directly or email zaakir.khan@mondrian-alpha.com for a confidential conversation.
