Job OverviewA rapidly growing, elite digital asset company is seeking a General Counsel to serve as its chief legal advisor and a key member of the executive leadership team. This individual will be responsible for overseeing all legal, regulatory, governance, and risk management matters while partnering closely with senior business leaders to support strategic growth initiatives.This is a unique opportunity for a hands-on legal executive who enjoys operating in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and providing practical, business-focused advice across a broad range of legal and regulatory issues.ResponsibilitiesServe as the company's chief legal advisor, providing strategic and practical counsel to executive leadership on legal, regulatory, governance, commercial, and operational matters.Advise business leaders on legal risks, regulatory developments, and their impact on company operations and strategic initiatives.Draft, review, negotiate, and manage a wide range of commercial agreements, including vendor, technology, partnership, and service contracts.Support corporate transactions, financing activities, and other strategic growth initiatives.Oversee corporate governance matters, including board and committee support, corporate records, and entity management.Develop and enhance legal, compliance, and risk management frameworks to support the organization's continued growth.Partner with compliance, finance, and operational teams to implement policies, procedures, and internal controls.Manage regulatory inquiries, examinations, and relationships with relevant governmental and industry stakeholders.Identify, assess, and mitigate legal and regulatory risks across the business while providing practical, business-oriented solutions.Manage and coordinate outside counsel, ensuring efficient and cost-effective legal support.Establish and improve legal processes, policies, and best practices that enable scalable growth and operational efficiency.Collaborate cross-functionally with senior leadership and business teams to support new products, business initiatives, and day-to-day operations.QualificationsJuris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.Active U.S. bar membership in good standing.10+ years of legal experience, including substantial responsibility advising businesses on complex legal and regulatory matters.Combination of top law firm and in-house experience strongly preferred.Hands-on experience with derivatives documentation (ISDA, CSA) and trading counterparty relationshipsWorking knowledge of U.S. digital asset regulation, including CFTC, SEC and FinCEN frameworksExperience managing commercial contracts, corporate governance matters, and regulatory compliance issues.Demonstrated ability to operate independently and provide pragmatic, business-oriented legal advice.Strong executive presence and ability to partner effectively with senior leadership.
