System Administrator

Systems Administrator | Defence | ACT Cleared is partnering with a leading Australian Defence technology organisation to identify an experienced Systems Administrator to join a high-performing ICT team supporting secure, business-critical environments.The OpportunityThis role offers the opportunity to work within a complex and highly secure technology environment, providing administration, maintenance and support across enterprise infrastructure, networking and business applications.As part of a team of technical specialists, you will be responsible for ensuring the stability, security and performance of key systems while providing technical support to internal stakeholders.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide day-to-day administration and support of enterprise ICT infrastructure.Maintain and support Windows Server environments and associated technologies.Administer Active Directory, DNS, DHCP and Microsoft-based services.Support Linux systems and applications where required.Manage virtualised environments, enterprise storage platforms and backup solutions.Monitor system performance, availability and security compliance.Investigate, troubleshoot and resolve technical incidents and service requests.Implement and maintain system and network security controls.Support software deployment, patching and system imaging activities.Assist with LAN and WAN administration and network troubleshooting.Coordinate hardware procurement, deployment and lifecycle management.Maintain technical documentation and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.Skills & ExperienceThe successful candidate will demonstrate:5+ years' experience in systems administration, infrastructure support or a similar role.Strong experience with Windows Server, Active Directory and Microsoft technologies.Knowledge of virtualisation platforms and enterprise storage environments.Experience supporting Windows 10/11 desktop environments.Understanding of TCP/IP networking, DNS, DHCP, LAN and WAN technologies.Experience with remote support tools, patch management and software deployment platforms.Exposure to Linux administration is desirable.Knowledge of ITIL processes, including incident and change management.Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities.Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced technical environment.What's on OfferOpportunity to work within a secure Defence-related environment.Exposure to advanced infrastructure and enterprise technologies.Career development and ongoing professional growth opportunities.Competitive salary and benefits package.Collaborative and supportive team culture.Additional leave and wellbeing initiatives.Security RequirementsApplicants must:Be Australian Citizens.Hold or be eligible to obtain and maintain an NV2 Australian Government Security Clearance.Meet applicable security and compliance requirements associated with Defence industry programs.This opportunity would suit a Systems Administrator with experience in Defence, government, managed services or other highly regulated environments who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and supporting mission-critical systems.
